A Monster Calls – Patrick Ness. ✶✶✶✶✶

Blurb:
The monster showed up after midnight. As they do.

But it isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting. He’s been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he’s had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming…

This monster is something different, though. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor.

It wants the truth.

My Review:
WOW! WOW! WOW! Where to start? I fell in love with this story. A MUST READ! I decided to read this story as I saw there was a film of this story and many readers have been reading it! It took me a good ten minutes after finishing this book to stop crying and calm down, so tissues will be needed! Not many books make me cry but this one hit me right in the feelings department. I can already say this will be in my top 20 books of 2017. I can happily go and watch the film now. A Monster Calls is a beautiful, well written and easy to read story for all. You may even learn something yourself from this story I know I did. But WOW… What a powerful and emotional story. I read this within a day easily for it isn’t a long read but one I would urge you all to read or bump up to the top of your reading piles. Loved every minute of it.

Just a little fact about this book: The award winning author Siobhan Dowd died of cancer before she could write this book but the lovely Patrick Ness took her idea and created this heartbreaking story for her behalf. AWWH. 😦
