Blurb; She thought he’d come to save her. She was wrong.
Deborah Jenkins pulls her coat around her as she sets out on her short walk home in the pouring rain. But she never makes it home that night. And she is never seen again …
Four years later, an abandoned baby girl is found wrapped in dirty rags on a doorstep. An anonymous phone call urges the police to run a DNA test on the baby. But nobody is prepared for the results.
The newborn belongs to Deborah. She’s still alive.
My Review; The Next Girl is the stunning debut and first book in the Gina Harte series, what a brilliant start to this upcoming series! The prologue has me interested and wanting to know more… Hooked!
This really is a thrilling story and brilliant! It also highlights how people keep quiet about domestic violence within relationships… I really felt quiet sorry for Luke and his children and hope that noone finds themselves in their situation. Its funny and scary how quickly life can turn and change.
Detective Gina Harte is refusing to give up on this case and manages to keep a positive outlook at all times and is another main, strong female character within the literacy world. But she also has her own personal issues and life to deal with alongside work! I look forward to reading more in this series and see what lies ahead for the team. I awarded four stars and would highly recommend to you all!
The Next Girl is thrilling, addictive and brilliant! It is fast paced, easy to read and contains short chapters.
