Blurb; Married couple Jack and Ali Gardiner move to a self-sufficient spiritual commune in the English Fens, desperate for fresh start. The local village is known for the witches who once resided there and Rosalind House, where the commune has been established, is a former psychiatric home, with a disturbing history.
When Jack and Ali arrive, a chain of unexpected and unexplained events is set off, and it becomes clear that they are not all that they seem. As the residents become twitchy, and the villagers suspicious, events from the past come back to haunt them, and someone is seeking retribution…
My Review; I have read previous books by SJI Holliday and all were brilliant but this one has to top them all! It’s bloody brilliant. Perfect. A must read. A must buy.
This book had me hooked from the start, I just wanted to ignore life and devour this book. The Lingering is spooky, creepy and haunting. I was on high alert throughout… Waiting… Tense.
The Lingering is written brilliant. I could tell from the start it was going to be a wierd, unusual setting and story. Parts gave me goosebumps. Lots of unique characters! That ending blew me away. Chilling. Dark. Outstanding. Unexpected. Twisted. They say finish with a bang and this book did. Very impressed!
A great story. One that will stick in my mind for a while. A well deserved five stars. A well deserved place in my top twenty reads of 2018. Highly recommend!
