If I Stay – Gayle Forman ★★★★

Blurb; Just listen, Adam says with a voice that sounds like shrapnel.

I open my eyes wide now.
I sit up as much as I can.
And I listen.

Stay, he says.

Choices. Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones: Stay true to her first love—music—even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her family and friends behind?

Then one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it’s the only one that matters.

My Review; This is one I borrowed from a friend it is a short read at just over 200 pages which spans over a long two days. Mia experienced something a young girl should never have to experience… It’s an eye opening, heart-breaking and emotional read in parts. You really feel for Mia.

It’s a different story as Mia can see everything thats happening around her even when she’s in a coma, having surgery and at deaths door. Like a ghost… She realises some truths along the way and some devastating facts. I was with her the whole time… The ending is like a woah, what happens next? Which is why I really need to dive into book two to see what happens. A cliffhanger.

A well deserved four stars. Highly recommend. I can’t wait to see what happens in book two… and to watch the film.
