Blurb; It’s been eighteen months since the Raxter School for Girls was put under quarantine. Since the Tox hit and pulled Hetty’s life out from under her.
It started slow. First the teachers died one by one. Then it began to infect the students, turning their bodies strange and foreign. Now, cut off from the rest of the world and left to fend for themselves on their island home, the girls don’t dare wander outside the school’s fence, where the Tox has made the woods wild and dangerous. They wait for the cure they were promised as the Tox seeps into everything.
But when Byatt goes missing, Hetty will do anything to find her, even if it means breaking quarantine and braving the horrors that lie beyond the fence. And when she does, Hetty learns that there’s more to their story, to their life at Raxter, than she could have ever thought true.
My Review; What were the chances that the first book I pick up to read in these different and difficult times currently is about quarantine… Hmm. Nevertheless, it was a brilliant read I just wish I would have read it at an easier time for the world and myself.
The story is told through two girls Byatt and Hetty, bestfriends. Currently on an island. In a school. Under quarantine. However, one of the girls decides to break quarantine putting themselves and the whole school at risk. Sound familiar right now? BUT… Things start to turn. It’s a fight for survival. Who is on whose side within this school? Who will make it out alive?
Loved the whole concept of it and the setting, the plot, the characters. Great read. Just a little too close to home for me at the moment. But would highly recommend to you all when we make it through this lock down. A well deserved four stars from me. I also love the cover! It’s different.
