City Of Ghosts – Victoria Schwab ★★★★★

Blurb; Cassidy Blake’s parents are The Inspecters, a (somewhat inept) ghost-hunting team. But Cass herself can REALLY see ghosts. In fact, her best friend, Jacob, just happens to be one.

When The Inspecters head to ultra-haunted Edinburgh, Scotland, for their new TV show, Cass—and Jacob—come along. In Scotland, Cass is surrounded by ghosts, not all of them friendly. Then she meets Lara, a girl who can also see the dead. But Lara tells Cassidy that as an In-betweener, their job is to send ghosts permanently beyond the Veil. Cass isn’t sure about her new mission, but she does know the sinister Red Raven haunting the city doesn’t belong in her world. Cassidy’s powers will draw her into an epic fight that stretches through the worlds of the living and the dead, in order to save herself.

My Review; THIS WAS BRILLIANT! I bought it ages ago as the cover is gorgeous and caught my eye. I’m surprised at how much I loved it and enjoyed it. I can honestly say I’ve not read anything similar to this before. It’s was an easy read for me and I devoured it in a day but I just loved it. It’s a unique story.

I love Cassidy’s character the fact she has a ghost as her bestfriend and can see ghosts (the inbetween). She thinks she’s the only one who can do what she does but then she meets Lara and she is just what she needs. She understands Cassidy and is the same as her.

Things turn tense when Cassidy gets her life stolen off her by an evil ghost then it’s a race against time to get her life back and she has consequences to face afterwards. Lara teaches her about what she can see and do… Her purpose.

I’m currently reading book two (tunnel of bones) and it’s just as good. Highly recommend. A light read, but a brilliant one. Five stars from me.
