*BLOG TOUR* Mine – Alison Knight ★★★★

Blurb; “What’s mine, I keep.”

London, 1968.

Lily’s dreams of a better life for her family are shattered when her teenage daughter refuses to give up her illegitimate child. It doesn’t help that Lily’s husband, Jack, takes their daughter’s side.

Taking refuge in her work at a law firm in the City, Lily’s growing feelings for her married boss soon provides a dangerous distraction.

Will Lily be able to resist temptation? Or will the decisions made by these ordinary people lead them down an extraordinary path that could destroy them all?

Mine – a powerful story of class, ambition and sexual politics.

My Review; A brilliantly written story, one I really enjoyed. Fell in love with Lilys character what an amazing women she is eh. It’s a heart-breaking, powerful and suspense filled story. Will she, won’t she? I don’t blame her for how she felt to be honest she wouldn’t be the first woman to feel like that and neither the last.

The chapters are short which is my personal preference and it was an easy read. Devoured and got through it much quicker than I thought. The story highlights how short life is and that sometimes you have to put yourself first to find happiness no matter what. The author is brilliant with his describing and took me back to the 1960s a major difference from how we live now, was nice to compare the then and now while reading.

Highly recommend. A well deserved four stars from me. Mine (the story) is based off true events which always makes the story for me more real and eye opening.
