Gone – Michael Grant ★★★★★

Blurb; In the blink of an eye, everyone disappears. Gone. Except for the young.

There are teens, but not one single adult. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what’s happened.

Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day. It’s a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: On your 15th birthday, you disappear just like everyone else…

My Review; I was kindly gifted this series to read by a friend and I had to start it straight away. 560 pages long and I devoured it. I do believe it has also been turned into a tv series or film so I will have to keep a look out for that. I can honestly say I have not read anything similar to this before and it was amazing.

A world where all the adults and anyone aged over 15 disappear. Scary. This leaves with it a lot of problems… babies? Food? Animals? Emergency services? Deaths? Who is all that down too? Well whoever is there has to handle it all. Luckily there is still electricity but no WiFi, no call signal and no TV. How will these children cope? Alongside all that some children have powers! Will they all come together to survive? Or will there be war? Will powers have to be unleashed? Will there be a leader? Honestly so many questions. I loved it all.

Sam steps up. I loved his character and his sidekicks. Brave. Strong. A hero to many. But like always there are bullies to face. Parts of the story do get violent with fighting and guns. With power comes great responsibility and the urge to abuse that power. An explosive ending. Through the story it is counting down towards something.. something that cannot be stopped or can it?

I am so glad this is book one as I want more already I was lost into this world and I need to see what happens. Will the adults return? Highly recommend. A well deserved five stars. This may even end up in my top reads of the year. Brilliant. Loved it. Addictive. A real page turner.
