Blurb; Seven friends. One killer. You can run, but you can’t hide…
The winter hike is meant to bring their nature group together.
Emily, the sister who never lets her hearing loss hold her back.
Lauren, the sister who always feels a step behind.
Morna, who doesn’t get on with Lauren.
Ben, whose feelings for Emily border on obsession.
Dan, the quiet newcomer to the group.
Kai, who isn’t just on the hike to enjoy the wildlife.
And Alec, the one who knows all their secrets.
As the sun sets, a gunshot rings out on the nature reserve.
One of the seven is dead. And one of their number killed them…
My Review; Another five star read I recently enjoyed. I read this front page to back in one day. I was well and truelly hooked, couldn’t put it down. The story is told through each of the characters but labelled clearly so there’s no confusion. They are out for some bird spotting, just one group of friends until there’s a gun shot… Who? What? Why? Where? When?
It’s a real who dunnit. Suspect everyone. Trust noone. Edge of your seat read. Each has their own secrets they’re hiding which makes everyone a suspect. Very clever story. Unexpected outcome I never saw coming. A true shocker in more ways then one with an open ending for the reader to interpret themselves. Brilliant. Thrilling. Suspense.
For me the story was made more tense by the fact character Emily was completely deaf, out there alone, not knowing who to trust or how to get back to help. Poor girl. Highly recommend. A well deserved five stars from me.
