The Wreckage – Robin Morgan-Bentley ★★★★

Blurb; One fatal crash. Two colliding worlds. Three wrecked lives.

School teacher Ben is driving on the motorway, on his usual commute to work.

A day like any other…

Except for one man who, in a final despairing act, jumps in front of Ben’s car, turning the teacher’s world upside down in a single horrifying instant…

Wracked with guilt and desperate to clear his conscience, he develops a friendship with Alice, the dead man’s wife, and her 7-year-old son Max.

But as he tries to escape the trauma of the wreckage, could he go too far in trying to make amends?

How would you cope, knowing you’d caused someone’s death?

My Review; I got this one as a bargain from Amazon for just £2 and soon found myself devouring it. From the start I was hooked and intrigued about why this man committed suicide. It’s a page turner of a read which kept me guessing throughout. I really felt for Ben for most of this story as his guilt at killing this man was eating away at him and all he wanted to do was help this mans wife and son. Wouldn’t anyone?

Around half way through things started to turn becoming spooky, scary, dark and stalkerish. Is Ben becoming obsessed with this woman and her son? The ending just blew me away like OMG what a clever twist. Crafty. So well thought out. I never could have guessed or written it myself. Made the whole book worth it. Genius. A well deserved four stars from me. Highly recommend. Well written story. Gripping.
