Blurb; The Bayou is a unique place to live and it provides a grit and passion to any who hail from it, including Cain Lemaire, an ex-Secret Service agent from New Orleans. Cain had the dream job he had always wanted, protecting the President, until a single night resulted in a scandal that lost him his post.
Needing a new direction for his life and with help from his sister who works in Japan, Cain takes a job in Tokyo as head of security detail for a very successful and important CEO. What he thought was a simple security post unravels a tangled web of corruption, greed, and extortion, but now Cain is on his own and without the wealth of resources he had with the Secret Service. Years of training and international missions kick in as he races to find justice that only way a born and raised Cajun can do.
My Review; Was kindly given this as a Christmas present as I love James Patterson. Now this was different from his everyday thrillers/crime I usually read this was more action for me. Fast paced. Plenty of fighting, chase scenes and running against the clock. Things start to get personal for Cain when his sisters becomes involved in it all. Tense. But still a brilliant read. Easy read. Short chapters. Nice outcome. Enjoyed it. Highly recommend. This would make a brilliant action film. A well deserved four stars.
We work in the dark to serve the light. We are assassins.
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
Now I must start by saying I am a big fan of anything Assassin Creed and was delighted it was being turned into a film, so I just had to read the book before I watched the film. However, I didn’t find this one as good as the series of Assassin Creed I have previously read. It is a brilliant story line but I wasn’t as hooked as I was with the series and I think that’s because they’ve turned it into a more 21st century story rather than the old series. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading this one even though it took me a while to finish which is why I awarded four stars. This book is written well and contains short chapters but i wouldn’t class it as similar to the whole series. I can’t wait to watch the film now and compare the two. I must admit I do love the cover though showing the two personalities of an assassin. This is written by a different author than those written in the series which is also why it felt a bit different. Enjoy!

My Review: A gripping standalone novel from the author of the Detective Alec Ramsay Series. I must start by saying WOW! I was hooked from the first page. I devoured this story and I really did not want it to end. Excellent story. Brick is full of drama, suspense, violence, death, guns and lies. The perfect read which will keep you hooked throughout. I found it easy to read and extremely fast paced. Of course like usual I WANTED MORE. I cannot wait to read more by Conrad Jones and I am very happy that I was introduced to this author. A thrilling story packed full, which you will not forget in a hurry. Brick is the perfect story for readers who enjoy an excellent thriller, crime, action, drama, suspense and mystery filled story. I would highly recommend this story to you all. Enjoy, I did. Loved it.
Please note this book has been republished under Bloodhound Books and I read this book in September last year, this is my original review! Can’t wait to see whats next from Conrad Jones! I’m waiting…… A well deserved five stars.
