Paper Avalanche – Lisa Williamson ★★★★

Blurb; ‘Bonnie. Never Mum or Mummy or Mother. Just Bonnie.’

When it comes to flying under the radar, Ro Snow is an expert.

No friends.

No boys.

No parties.

And strictly NO VISITORS.

It may be lonely, but at least this way the truth remains where it should – hidden.

Then Tanvi Shah, the girl who almost died, comes tumbling back into her life, and Ro finds herself losing control of her carefully constructed lies.

But if Ro’s walls come crumbling down, who’s going to take care of Bonnie…

My Review; I LOVED THIS BOOK. I loved Ros character. Ro is the main character and her mum is an extreme hoarder, all Ro wants is a normal life, a normal clean house and a good relationship with her mother. She doesn’t even call her mum, she calls her Bonnie which just shows what their relationship is like. Ro is the adult and Bonnie is the child. It is an eye opening read to what I suspect a lot of children have to live like even now.

No friends coming round. Wanting noone to know where you live. Scared Social Services will turn up. But in the end a disaster happens which may have been just the wake up call Bonnie needed. However, Ro soon finds herself a few unexpected friends and the relationship Ro had with Tanvi is amazing I loved them both. Stuck together. True best friends. Throughout all this Ro find herself stuck into singing, school and choir which may just be the escape she needs. Brilliant story. A positive ending.

Highly recommend. A well deserved four stars from me.

*BLOG TOUR* A Winter Wedding at the Little Duck Pond Cafe – Rosie Green ★★★★

Blurb; With Zak and Ellie’s wedding day approaching, there’s high excitement in the pretty village of Sunnybrook, especially among the Little Duck Pond Café crew. Ellie is over the moon with her romantic surprise wedding gift from Zak, and Madison is promising to organise a hen party to remember. Everyone has high hopes for a magical Christmas Eve wedding celebration at gorgeous Brambleberry Manor. (Even Maisie-Moo has a sparkling new outfit.)
But sometimes, even the best-laid plans can go wrong. And with the journey to the altar turning out to be rockier than expected, it’s going to take nothing short of a Christmas miracle to ensure a happy ending . . .

My Review; The perfect festive read! It seems I’m still clinging on to Christmas by reading this one. What could be more magical than a beautiful wedding during the Christmas period? Yet again I felt welcomed back into this cosy town, with all the familar faces and characters. It felt like I’d never been away. A home away from home.

This is book eight in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series but all can easily be read as standalones I suppose, but I prefer to read them in order. I felt for Fen throughout this story as she was worrying, scared and thought she messed up. Then there was more than one happy ending here… I hope we see more and this isn’t the end.

It’s a short read, but a brilliant one that had me smiling throughout especially that perfect ending. Just beautiful. A well deserved four stars from me. Highly recommend. How beautiful is the cover? I love it!

Sleep – C.L. Taylor ★★★★★

Blurb; All Anna wants is to be able to sleep. But crushing insomnia, terrifying night terrors and memories of that terrible night are making it impossible. If only she didn’t feel so guilty…

To escape her past, Anna takes a job at a hotel on the remote Scottish island of Rum, but when seven guests join her, what started as a retreat from the world turns into a deadly nightmare.

Each of the guests have a secret but one of them is lying – about who they are and why they’re on the island. There’s a murderer staying in the Bay View hotel. And they’ve set their sights on Anna.

Seven strangers. Seven secrets. One deadly lie.

Someone’s going to sleep and never wake up…

My Review; I have loved and enjoyed every single book by this author so far, she never disappoints me. I literally devoured this in two days. It’s one of those books you don’t want to put down. It also has you guessing and trying to figure out who the killer is… I failed… Never saw that coming in a million years. Jaw dropper. Shocking.

Sleep is a page turner of a read. Brilliantly written and contains short chapters. The story is told through the different characters, but the main character is Anna. Now I really felt sorry for Anna. It all began with a car accident and she hasn’t had a break from life since then… Poor thing. She needed a break and time away. Cue her going to Rum a scottish island. But even then she didn’t get away…

A must read from me. Thrilling. Tense. Full of suspense. Edge of your seat read. I even think this may be going into my top twenty of 2020 and we are still in January! It’s brilliant. You will love it. A well deserved five stars from me. Highly recommend. I’m looking forward to reading Callys new book Strangers due out this year.
