*BLOG TOUR* Elodie’s Library of Second Chances – Rebecca Raisin ★★★★★

Blurb: An uplifting story about fresh starts, new beginnings and the power of stories, from the bestselling author of Rosie’s Travelling Tea Shop!
When Elodie applies for the job of librarian in peaceful Willow Grove, she’s looking forward to a new start. As the daughter of a media empire, her every move has been watched for years, and she longs to work with the thing she loves most: books.

It’s a chance to make a real difference too, because she soon realises that there are other people in Willow Grove who might need a fresh start – like the homeless man everyone walks past without seeing, or the divorcée who can’t seem to escape her former husband’s misdeeds.

Together with local journalist Finn, Elodie decides these people have stories that need sharing. What if instead of borrowing books readers could ‘borrow’ a person, and hear the life stories of those they’ve overlooked?

But Elodie isn’t quite sharing her whole story either. As the story of the library’s new success grows, will her own secret be revealed?

My Review: I have been a huge fan of Rebecca’s books for a while and knew I was in for a treat with this one. I wasn’t disappointed I devoured half of this book in just one night. Such a beautiful, heart warming and uplifting story. One all bookworms will enjoy as the story focuses on saving a library with the people as books storyline which is a relatively new idea across libraries. The main character is a book obsessed lady who just wants a cosy but simple life full of love and literature. A beautiful read. I enjoyed every page until the end. Loved all the characters and cosy little town. A perfect read. A well deserved five stars from me. Highly recommend. Going into my top reads of 2022.

First Love – James Patterson & Emily Raymond ★★★★

Blurb; An extraordinary portrait of true love that will move anyone who has a first love story of their own. Axi Moore is a “good girl”: She studies hard, stays out of the spotlight, and doesn’t tell anyone how all she really wants is to run away from it all. The only person she can tell is her best friend, Robinson–who she also happens to be madly in love with.

When Axi spontaneously invites Robinson to come with her on an impulsive cross-country road trip, she breaks the rules for the first time in her life. But the adventure quickly turns from carefree to out of control after the teens find themselves on the run from the police. And when Robinson suddenly collapses, Axi has to face the truth that this trip might be his last.

A remarkably moving tale very personal to James Patterson’s own past, FIRST LOVE is testament to the power of first love–and how it can change the rest of your life.

My Review; As many of you know I love anything James Patterson. This is an adorable story of falling in love with your best friend. After they run away together and set out on an adventure to the unknown, no destination, no plans just to leave their town you can slowly see these two characters fall in love while causing chaos along the way. From stealing cars. Evading the cops. To running away from a hospital. To accidents. This story has it all. The old paperback has no illustrations but the ebook included the odd illustration. An easy read. The ending was sad, upsetting the whole story before the end just started to make sense and piece it all together. Tissues may be needed it made me tear up anyway. Perfect read for readers who enjoyed the fault in our stars. Emotional. Beautiful. Highly recommend. A well deserved four stars from me.

Sea Keepers: The Missing Manatee – Coral Ripley ★★★★

Blurb; Sea Keepers to the rescue – a baby manatee needs their help! A magical series about saving our oceans.

Emily, Grace and Layla travel to the tropics to search for a magic pearl. But disaster strikes when evil Effluvia kidnaps a baby manatee and holds it for ransom. Effluvia demands a magic pearl in exchange for the little manatee. If the Sea Keepers give into the wicked siren, they won’t be able to stop her from releasing her siren sisters . . .

It’s up to the Sea Keepers to save the manatee – and the whole underwater world!

My Review; Sea Keepers – This is book nine in the sea keepers series, the first book I have read in this series. It does mention previous books before this one in beginning but it still reads fine as a Standalone. In this story we see three main characters Layla, Emily and Grace become mermaids also known as the sea keepers, there to protect and help all sea creatures and life under water. They soon find themselves having to help a young Manatee from the evil mermaid within the sea Effluvia who wants the magical pearl. The girls search for the magical pearl in order to save the young manatee but surely they won’t hand it over to her? Surely they can find another way to save this manatee. Beautiful black and white illustrations throughout. A magical, mermaid and underwater adventure with talking animals any little girl would love. Highly recommend. A well deserved four stars.
