Dead Woman Walking – Sharon Bolton ★★★★★

Blurb; Just before dawn in the hills near the Scottish border, a man murders a young woman. At the same time, a hot-air balloon crashes out of the sky. There’s just one survivor.

She’s seen the killer’s face – but he’s also seen hers. And he won’t rest until he’s eliminated the only witness to his crime.

Alone, scared, trusting no one, she’s running to where she feels safe – but it could be the most dangerous place of all . . .

My Review; I will start by saying both the title and cover drew me into picking up this book and I knew it was going to be a good read. A b rilliant read infact! It was thrilling, full of suspense, contained plenty of twists and turns and kept me hooked throughout.

Dead Woman Walking is a one of a kind story I cannot compare to any others I have read so far. I loved every minute of reading this book! The story does flick back and forth from past to present throughout but the author has made it clear when it changes so there is no confusion for the reader. I must also mention the fact I did not suspect what would happen or emerge towards the end of this story, I was generally shocked. That’s the sign of a great book!

This story is perfect for readers who want a brilliant thriller, suspense and mystery rolled into one. The story is easy to read, fast paced and contains short chapters. I awarded a well deserved five stars and I will be reading more by this author in the future I hope. I would highly recommend this story to you all if you haven’t read it already.

The Little Church By The Sea – Liz Taylorson ★★★★★

Blurb; Isolated and unwelcome in the picturesque seaside village of Rawscar, Reverend Cass Fordyce has lost her faith and her home. Christmas is coming, and she isn’t looking forward to it. Then she meets attractive local man Hal – twice divorced and with a reputation as a ladies’ man he’s everything that a celibate vicar like Cass should avoid… especially as Hal is hiding secrets of his own, including his past with the mysterious Anna.

Can Cass ever find her way in Rawscar? What secret does Hal have to hide? And is there ever such a thing as a truly fresh start?

My Review; What a lovely story. Its was perfect for me. It has a little bit of everything, christmas, romance, cute little village and religion but not too heavily to put the reader off. I enjoyed reading this story. It was easy to read, fast paced and contains short chapters.

When I started this book I didn’t want to put it down I just kept reading chapter after chapter. Yes, I was hooked. I fell in love with the characters, the cute little village and adored the hint of Christmas within too. A one of a kind story that is brilliant, I was sad it had to end. I awarded a well deserved five stars and I would highly recommend this story to you all. I also love the cover. A lovely story.

Love, Lies and Lemon Cake – Sue Watson ★★★★★

Blurb:

Faye Dobson has lost her sparkle. Living on film star fantasies and vague memories of a marriage that once was, she can’t help feeling that life is passing her by. She dreams of being whisked to Paris for dinner, making three wishes at the Trevi fountain and having sex under the stars. But the wrinkles are multiplying, her husband’s passion is for plumbing, and the nearest she’ll get to Rome is a take-away pizza.
So when Faye meets Dan the gorgeous Australian surfer guy working in the local deli she can’t help but wonder what it would be like to see the world. He is blonde, tanned, ten years younger and bakes the most amazing lemon cake. Unlike her husband Dan actually listens to Faye, his smile makes her feel fizzy inside, and when he smiles… Oh. My. God.

But is Faye being silly? What would Dan see in someone like her? Even if he did have feelings for her, could she give up everything to be with him?

My Review:
