Sunny Days & Sea Breezes – Carole Matthews ★★★★★

Blurb; Jodie Jackson is all at sea, in every sense.

On a ferry bound for the Isle of Wight, she’s leaving her London life, her career, and her husband behind. She’d like a chance to turn back the clocks, but she’ll settle for some peace and quiet on her brother Bill’s beautifully renovated houseboat, Sunny DaysBut from the moment Jodie steps aboard her new home, it’s clear she’ll struggle to keep herself to herself.

Jodie soon delights in her newfound freedom. But out of mind isn’t out of sight, and when her old life comes knocking Jodie is forced to face reality. Will she answer the call or choose a life filled with Sunny Days and Sea Breezes?

My Review; I’ve always been a fan of Carole Matthews books and when I saw this one released and on sale for £7 I couldn’t say no especially with the heatwave we were having at the time. No holiday or beach this year? Bring the holiday and beach to you with this beautiful story. It was just what I needed some escapism.

The setting is perfection. I fell in love. Jodie needs a break from her life so off she goes to her brothers boat in the Isle of White. She never expected to fall in love with it, the town and the people. Will she stay? Will she go back home? I literally devoured this book! Raced through it. A little holiday away for my mind. Beautifully written. Cannot recommend this enough.

A well deserved five stars from me. It has also gone into my top twenty of year reads. Perfection. Don’t have a bad word to say about it other than it had to end.

More to Life Than This – Carole Matthews ★★★★

Blurb:
Kate Lewis is thirty-five and feeling restless. She’s fed up of worrying about the ironing and would like her husband Jeffrey to pay more attention to her than his golf clubs. There must be more to life than this!

Kate enrols herself on a T’ai Chi course and takes best friend Sonia along for the ride. She’s determined to ‘find herself’ but it’s easier said than done, especially when she finds the distracting Ben Mahler first . .

My Review:
I just randomly picked this one of my shelves out of the hundreds of choices. If you know me you will already know that Carole Matthews has to be one of my favourite authors and I am working my way through all her books! Now this was one of her earlier books back in 2006 and I must admit it is not one of her best books but I still enjoyed it nevertheless. I awarded four stars. I loved the story as I am sure many people hit middle age, panic and then think surely there must be more to life than this (NOTE THE TITLE). It is written well, easy to read and contains short chapters. I fell in love with all the characters! Sometimes you do just need to shake your life up a little (No, I’m not promoting what does happen in this book but hey… IT WORKED FOR THEM). I would highly recommend this book to you all if you haven’t read it already. Carole never disappointments me. Enjoy.

My Review:
WOW! If you know me or my blog by now you would know Carole Matthews is a favourite author of mine and I’m trying to read ALL her stories. Yet again I was not disappointed and loved this story, it had it all from lies, drama, affairs to love and loss. BRILLIANT. Highly recommended from me… This story is written well, easy to read and contains short chapters. I didn’t want to put it down! I loved the characters and I loved the setting especially as I love train journeys myself (means I can read for the journey). Another amazing story that blew me away! Enjoy, I did.
