Blurb; My name is Harper Drew. I wasn’t sure I was going to carry on with this journal. I started it in the summer holidays to write down the mayhem happening around me. I thought it might have calmed down by now but I should have known better!
For starters there is a snake on the loose in my neighbourhood – a 6ft Python called Betty to be exact, my dad’s decided to re-tile the bathroom and NOBODY is allowed in there, and my older brother Troy seems to be constantly kitted out in expensive designer clothing. I’m the only one who has noticed he’s acting shifty …
But I need to focus on organising a talent show to raise money for the local foodbank. It’s going to be great … apart from the fact Troy seems to care more about gaining more followers, aka his “DesTroyers” on his YouTube channel, than he does about helping me out.
Can Harper find a way to show her brother that kindness is more important than being popular?
My Review; A brilliant story for all children. Yes, I’m 28 but even I still enjoyed this one. It is illustrated throughout in black and white and an easy, fun and silly read in parts. A snake is on the lose and there is a huge reward for its capture. Theres a bit of family drama involved which happens in all families and is happily resolved by the end of the book and a huge, successful fundraiser for those who need it most. A brilliant story to be enjoyed by all. I have not read book one before this and would say this read perfectly fine as a standalone for me. Highly recommend. A well deserved four stars from me.
Blurb; Mirabelle doesn’t mean to cause trouble, it just seems to follow her round. But when she and her brother go to stay at their fairy grandparents she is determined that nothing will go wrong, and she is going to be on her very best, most fairy-like, behaviour.
But being good all the time is really tiring. And a little bit of mess leads to a little bit of secret witch magic, which leads to even more mess, and even more magic, until everything is in total chaos! Can Mirabelle get the mayhem under control before Granny finds out?
My Review; Here we are again. Another series I love, can all be read as standalones. Perfect for young girls. Beautifully illustrated throughout. Just over 100 pages. We al know Mirabelle always causes mischief where ever she ends up. In this story we go with her and her brother to her nan and grandads for a sleepover, surely she will behave for them won’t she? Wrong. A brilliant story. Highly recommend. A well desered four stars.
Isadora is special because she is different. Her mum is a fairy and her dad is a vampire and she’s a bit of both.
Isadora has been invited to a sleepover, which is always fun, but this time it’s even more exciting because she will be staying at her mermaid friend’s house under the sea! It’s so much fun spending time with her watery friends, but while she’s there Isadora meets a mermaid called Emerald who doesn’t seem to be having such a nice time. In the middle of the night, when everyone else is fast asleep, Emerald finally reveals to Isadora what has been troubling her. Can Isadora help Emerald sort out her problem? It’s the beginning of an amazing underwater adventure!
Beautiful gift edition with silver sprayed edges and packed with extra activities and things to make and do.
My Review; I love this series, but all read perfectly as standalones. These are perfect reads for young girls. Beautifully illustrated throughout. An adventure under the sea with one of our favourite characters Isadora. At the back of the book is plenty of activities, recipes and things to do. Highly recommend. A well deserved four stars.
