Lightbringer – Claire Legrand ★★★★

Blurb; In this epic finale to the Empirium Trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Claire Legrand, two queens, separated by a thousand years must face their ultimate destinies.

Queen Rielle, pushed away from everything she loves, turns to Corien and his promises of glory. Meanwhile, whispers from the empirium slowly drive her mad, urging her to open the Gate. Separated from Audric and Ludivine, she embraces the role of Blood Queen and her place by Corien’s side, determined to become the monster the world believes her to be.

In the future, Eliana arrives in the Empire’s capital as a broken shell of herself. Betrayed and abandoned, she fights to keep her power at bay—and away from Corien, who will stop at nothing to travel back in time to Rielle, even if that means destroying her daughter.

But when the mysterious Prophet reveals themselves at last, everything changes, giving Rielle and Eliana a second chance for salvation—or the destruction their world has been dreading.

My Review; The final book of The Empirium trilogy. Now its been a while since I finished book two so I won’t lie it took me a while to remember the ending of book two, familiarise myself with the characters etc. But after that I was back in and hooked. This was a buddy read with Jacqueline from Pufflekitteh.

The story is told through each of the characters and there is plenty going on to keep the reader hooked. Brilliantly written, I was lost in this fantasy world for a while and I loved it. I really felt for Audric though he just wanted Rielle back from the start and I felt that.

A brilliant ending to the trilogy with a huge, explosive war towards the end. Queen vs Queen. Which side will Rielle choose? It’s all down to her. A well deserved four stars. Highly recommend.

*BLOG TOUR* Kingsbane – Claire Legrand ★★★★★

Blurb; Rielle Dardenne has been anointed Sun Queen, but her trials are far from over. The Gate keeping the angels at bay is falling. To repair it, Rielle must collect the seven hidden castings of the saints. Meanwhile, to help her prince and love Audric protect Celdaria, Rielle must spy on the angel Corien—but his promises of freedom and power may prove too tempting to resist.

Centuries later, Eliana Ferracora grapples with her new reality: She is the Sun Queen, humanity’s long-awaited savior. But fear of corruption—fear of becoming another Rielle—keeps Eliana’s power dangerous and unpredictable. Hunted by all, racing against time to save her dying friend Navi, Eliana must decide how to wear a crown she never wanted—by embracing her mother’s power, or rejecting it forever.

My Review; Oh wow. This series is hot! I managed to squeeze in Furyborn (book one) before reading book two and I would highly recommend they are read in order. This trilogy is amazing. I am so impressed. They have beautiful covers too.

I wasn’t a big reader of fantasy before but since this series was introduced into my life I am hooked! I love fantasy. This series has opened a whole new world for me and my imagination is on fire.

Kingsbane is a long read at 500 pages but well worth it. It is brilliantly written, a real page turner and a world you will not want to leave. Compared to Furyborn this story has so much more going on within its pages.

This is the story of two women, two queens. Rielle and Eliana. A blood queen and a sun queen. Centuries apart. The chapters flick between each queen and their story. We also get a couple of chapters from other characters too which we didn’t in Furyborn. I do find myself more drawn towards Rielle personally, but that could all change in the final book of the trilogy, which I now have to wait forever for! Damn.

A well deserved five stars from me. Highly recommend. Both Furyborn and Kingsbane get a spot in my top twenty reads of the year. If you want to read one fantasy series this year make it this one.

Are you a blood queen or a sun queen? I cannot wait for the final book already.

Furyborn – Claire Legrand ★★★★★

Blurb; When assassins ambush her best friend, Rielle Dardenne risks everything to save him, exposing herself as one of a pair of prophesied queens: a queen of light, and a queen of blood. To prove she is the Sun Queen, Rielle must endure seven elemental magic trials. If she fails, she will be executed…unless the trials kill her first.

One thousand years later, the legend of Queen Rielle is a fairy tale to Eliana Ferracora. A bounty hunter for the Undying Empire, Eliana believes herself untouchable–until her mother vanishes. To find her, Eliana joins a rebel captain and discovers that the evil at the empire’s heart is more terrible than she ever imagined.

As Rielle and Eliana fight in a cosmic war that spans millennia, their stories intersect, and the shocking connections between them ultimately determine the fate of their world–and of each other.

My Review; OMG! This book is amazing. It has been all I can think about. It is a long book at 500 pages but well worth it. I was taken into Rielles and Elianas worlds centuries apart and I didn’t want to leave. I felt myself drawn more to Rielle in this story though. This book put my life on hold, I devoured it in two days. A real page turner that will open your imagination.

Brilliantly written first book to the series. Furyborn is told through the characters Rielle and Eliana, the beginning had me hooked from the get go and I needed answers and slowly everything made sense. Amazing story. Especially loved the trials, gripping!

Absolutely loved it. A well deserved five stars from me. Highly recommend. It will also be getting a place in my top twenty reads of 2019 alongside book two Kingsbane which I will be reviewing tomorrow morning. Brilliant fantasy series. A must buy. A must read.
