Her Last Holiday – C.L. Taylor ★★★★

Blurb: You come to the retreat to be healed. You don’t expect to die.

Two years ago, Fran’s sister Jenna disappeared on a wellness retreat in Gozo that went terribly wrong.

Tom Wade, the now infamous man behind Soul Shrink Retreats, has just been released from prison after serving his sentence for the deaths of two people. But he has never let on what happened to the third victim: Jenna.

Determined to find out the truth, Fran books herself onto his upcoming retreat – the first since his release – and finds herself face to face with the man who might hold the key to her sister’s disappearance. The only question is, will she escape the retreat alive? Or does someone out there want Jenna’s secrets to stay hidden?

My Review: I’ve read every book by this author so I knew I was in for a treat with this one. Now I won’t lie it took me a while to get into it especially the flicking back and forth in the story line. BUT… The ending really made this whole book for me. Brilliant ending. Jaw dropping. Didn’t see it coming. Very clever. Enjoy it all but especially the ending. Not a retreat I’d go on personally. A few characters I didn’t get on with or like but a good read. A well deserved four stars.

The Island – C.L. Taylor ★★★★★

Blurb; Welcome to The Island.

Where your worst fears are about to come true…

It was supposed to be the perfect holiday: a week-long trip for six teenage friends on a remote tropical island.

But when their guide dies of a stroke leaving them stranded, the trip of a lifetime turns into a nightmare.

Because someone on the island knows each of the group’s worst fears. And one by one, they’re becoming a reality.

Seven days in paradise. A deadly secret.

Who will make it off the island alive?

My Review; I was lucky enough to be sent an early copy of this amazing book as I am one of Cally’s VIP readers. I am a huge fan of all her books and the wait between each one gets longer and longer due to me reading them in a couple of days… but they are always worth the wait! Another brilliant read I devoured. She hasn’t disappointed me yet. The cover is also gorgeous and eye catching.

This is a young adult, thriller set on a remote island. Six teenage friends are off to enjoy a seven day survival on a remote island but things soon start to turn scary, freaky and deadly. Who can trust who? Will they survive? Will they all leave the island? They’re a typical group of friends each with their own personal problems.

The story is told through each of the characters over the seven days and it works. It’s a tense, thrilling, gripping, fast paced, page turner of a read. I really enjoyed it and didn’t figure out the plot either which is always a bonus. This is a perfect YA thriller. One to pre order, keep an eye out for. It’s due January 2021 and I’m really excited about it.

Highly recommend. A well deserved five stars from me and a strong contender for my top twenty reads of the year. Brilliantly written. Perfection. Not got a bad thing to say…

Strangers – C.L. Taylor ★★★★

Blurb; Ursula, Gareth and Alice have never met before.

Ursula thinks she killed the love of her life.
Gareth’s been receiving strange postcards.
And Alice is being stalked.

None of them are used to relying on others – but when the three strangers’ lives unexpectedly collide, there’s only one thing for it: they have to stick together. Otherwise, one of them will die.

Three strangers, two secrets, one terrifying evening.

The million-copy bestseller returns with a gripping new novel that will keep you guessing until the end.

My Review; I have loved every book by Cally so far and this did not disappoint. What a page turner of a read, I devoured 200 pages of it in just one day. I love the multiple point of view the story is told in. Parts are very tense throughout. Edge of your seat, gasping moments are a plenty.

Brilliantly written. The ending really heats up bringing them all together with an explosive outcome. New friends are made, people are forgiven and changed but over what? Strangers is a gripping read and we get a great look into each characters life and circumstances. Each character had something difficult and different to tackel so there was always something to keep you flicking those pages.

A well deserved four stars from me. Highly recommend. Loved it. I already cannot wait to read her next book. She writes brilliant books.
