*BLOG TOUR* The Heart Warriors Mother – Marilyn Cohen De Villiers ★★★★

Blurb; Kerry-Anne Aarons is over the moon. She and her husband, Imran Patel, are about to become the parents of a baby daughter, and give their son, Leo, an adored little sister. It wasn’t planned, but Kerry knows that Lily’s arrival will complete the perfect little family she has always wanted. She, Imran and their two children are going to live happily ever after…
Then life intervenes.
Lily is born with a serious congenital heart defect and Kerry’s battle to save her daughter commences. It’s a battle that takes her from the operating theatres and Intensive Care Units of local hospitals to the High Court of South Africa. It’s a battle that strains her relationships with her friends, her parents, and – ultimately – her husband. It’s a battle she is determined to win.
But how much will Kerry have to sacrifice to give Lily the future she deserves?

My Review; Oh wow. Where do I even start reviewing this one? From the first few pages I knew I was in for a heart breaking read, a rollercoaster of emotions throughout. Based on a true story meet Lily a precious baby girl born with a heart defect and this is her and her families story. Constantly in and out of ICU and hospital, surgeries and illnesses. This little girl and her family have not had it easy at all. She’s a little fighter, a miracle thats for sure. It’s very emotional to read I’m lucky I’ve never been in that position with my own children but I don’t know how they got through it all and coped. It contains alot of medical talk so I actually learnt a lot while reading it too. Alot of up and downs. A lot of hope. Prayers. But wow. A story that will be impossible to forget, one that needed to be told to the world. Highly recommend. A well deserved four stars.

The Light We Lost – Jill Santopolo ★★★★★

Blurb; He was the first person to inspire her, to move her, to truly understand her. Was he meant to be the last?

Lucy is faced with a life-altering choice. But before she can make her decision, she must start her story—their story—at the very beginning.

Lucy and Gabe meet as seniors at Columbia University on a day that changes both of their lives forever. Together, they decide they want their lives to mean something, to matter. When they meet again a year later, it seems fated—perhaps they’ll find life’s meaning in each other. But then Gabe becomes a photojournalist assigned to the Middle East and Lucy pursues a career in New York. What follows is a thirteen-year journey of dreams, desires, jealousies, betrayals, and, ultimately, of love. Was it fate that brought them together? Is it choice that has kept them away? Their journey takes Lucy and Gabe continents apart, but never out of each other’s hearts.

My Review; This was a 99p buy and I am so glad I decided to read this one randomly. From the start I could tell it was going to be such a delicate, soft and beautiful story. The story is told through main character Lucy and throughout the whole story it is spoken/directed to Gabe. It’s a story of breakup, growing up, growing apart, moving on, memories, clinging on and love. True love. Soul mate love. The one.

It’s a powerful, emotional read especially towards the end. I do not cry at books ever but my god get some tissues for this one because it even made me tear up. The ending ripped me apart. Killed me. Heartbroken. But a happy ending (ish). A true romance story even if decades have passed between them. This book is the definition of romance and love. One I will not be able to forget for a long time. Stuck in my heart. A well deserved five stars from me. Highly recommend.

Breathless – Jennifer Niven ★★★★

Blurb; You were my first. Not just sex, although that was part of it, but the first to look past everything else into me. Some of the names and places have been changed, but the story is true. It’s all here because one day this will be the past, and I don’t want to forget what I went through, what I thought, what I felt, who I was. I don’t want to forget you. But most of all, I don’t want to forget me.

For her last summer before college, Claudine Henry and her mother head to a remote island off the Georgia coast. There, amidst the wild beauty of the place, she meets the free spirited Jeremiah Crew. Their chemistry is immediate and irresistible, and even though they both know that whatever they have can only last the summer, maybe one summer is enough . . .

My Review; This is one of my best friends favourite authors so ofcourse I had to read it. YA/romance. Emotional reading in parts. Claudine is an amazing main character, after her parents split she finds herself with her mother on a remote island with no phone signal. What will she do? Surely she won’t fall in love will she? That is exactly what she does. A story all about first love. Overcoming her parents break up, learning about herself & her family past. A beautiful story. Does contain sex scenes.

Devoured the majority of this in one day. Absolutely loved it. The ending annoying me. Well a certain part. No spoilers but highly recommend. A well deserved four stars from me. Stunning. A read that stays with you and reminds you all about your first love. Cute.
