You’ve Reached Sam – Dustin Thao ★★★★

Blurb; Seventeen-year-old Julie has her future all planned out—move out of her small town with her boyfriend Sam, attend college in the city, spend a summer in Japan. But then Sam dies. And everything changes.

Heartbroken, Julie skips his funeral, throws out his things, and tries everything to forget him and the tragic way he died. But a message Sam left behind in her yearbook forces back memories. Desperate to hear his voice one more time, Julie calls Sam’s cellphone just to listen to his voicemail.

And Sam picks up the phone.

In a miraculous turn of events, Julie’s been given a second chance at goodbye. The connection is temporary. But hearing Sam’s voice makes her fall for him all over again, and with each call it becomes harder to let him go. However, keeping her otherworldly calls with Sam a secret isn’t easy, especially when Julie witnesses the suffering Sam’s family is going through. Unable to stand by the sidelines and watch their shared loved ones in pain, Julie is torn between spilling the truth about her calls with Sam and risking their connection and losing him forever.

My Review; This is such a beautiful, delicate, and heartbreaking read all in one. A real love story dealing with the loss of her partner, Sam. She is clinging on with phone calls with him, but at some point, it has to end, doesn’t it? She has to move on and let go no matter how hard she finds it. But that’s easier said than done. The ending really did make me tear up. It is a beautiful read that will be hard to forget. A well deserved four stars from me. Highly recommend.

All Your Perfects – Colleen Hoover ★★★★

Blurb; Colleen Hoover delivers a tour de force novel about a troubled marriage and the one old forgotten promise that might be able to save it.

Quinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.

All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?

My Review; I was kindly gifted this book as a galentines and there has been a lot of hype over this author. You’ll be shocked to know this is only my second book I’ve read by her. BUT… I absolutely fell in love with Quinns and Grahems story. OMG. Literally had me tearing up at one part. It’s a beautiful love story with a happy ending. But it does contain a hard-hitting subject within which many readers may be able to relate to or find hard to read. Miscarriage and infertility. It’s a story of love. The deepest, purest love. It’s a conquer all together story. Find your own grahem and don’t let get. This will be a hard story to forget. Beautiful. Highly recommend. A well-deserved four stars.

*BLOG TOUR* The Heart Warriors Mother – Marilyn Cohen De Villiers ★★★★

Blurb; Kerry-Anne Aarons is over the moon. She and her husband, Imran Patel, are about to become the parents of a baby daughter, and give their son, Leo, an adored little sister. It wasn’t planned, but Kerry knows that Lily’s arrival will complete the perfect little family she has always wanted. She, Imran and their two children are going to live happily ever after…
Then life intervenes.
Lily is born with a serious congenital heart defect and Kerry’s battle to save her daughter commences. It’s a battle that takes her from the operating theatres and Intensive Care Units of local hospitals to the High Court of South Africa. It’s a battle that strains her relationships with her friends, her parents, and – ultimately – her husband. It’s a battle she is determined to win.
But how much will Kerry have to sacrifice to give Lily the future she deserves?

My Review; Oh wow. Where do I even start reviewing this one? From the first few pages I knew I was in for a heart breaking read, a rollercoaster of emotions throughout. Based on a true story meet Lily a precious baby girl born with a heart defect and this is her and her families story. Constantly in and out of ICU and hospital, surgeries and illnesses. This little girl and her family have not had it easy at all. She’s a little fighter, a miracle thats for sure. It’s very emotional to read I’m lucky I’ve never been in that position with my own children but I don’t know how they got through it all and coped. It contains alot of medical talk so I actually learnt a lot while reading it too. Alot of up and downs. A lot of hope. Prayers. But wow. A story that will be impossible to forget, one that needed to be told to the world. Highly recommend. A well deserved four stars.
