*BLOG TOUR* The Misfit Tribe and the Secret of Mystery Island – BJ Rowling & DG Lloyd ★★★★

Blurb; Teenagers, who suddenly possess a vast collection of magical mystical powers and abilities, find an ancient map, which leads them on a quest for buried treasure to a mysterious island filled with hidden secrets, booby traps, and a villain who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. What could possibly go wrong? A lot! Announcing B.J. Rowling’s (cousin of famed Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling) debut book “The Misfit Tribe.” Teaming up with co-author D.G. Lloyd, the duo have put together an incredibly entertaining franchise that will certainly capture the imagination of readers everywhere! – Gross Brothers’ Productions

My Review; You know when you read a book and never expected to love it? Well this just happened to me. I bloody loved this book, not what I expected at all… It’s fast paced, a page turner and makes you want to see the outcome for these teenagers and their hunt. They’ve survived several near deaths and literally had the ride of their lives along the way and I got to experience it alongside them.

It’s a real adventure and mysterious story with parts of low fantasy added in making one brilliant story. I throughally enjoyed it. Brilliantly written. One I won’t forget for a long time, different, fun, adventurous. There’s many unique characters within this group of friends all useful in their own way for this hunt and they all stuxk together.

Highly recommend. Perfect for young adult readers who want an adventure. A well deserved four stars from me.

Nightchaser – Amanda Bouchet. ★★★★

Blurb; Tess Bailey: the galaxy’s Most Wanted.
Captain Tess Bailey is in deep trouble. She and her crew are on the run, pursued by a tyrant who’ll take them dead or alive. Tess’s best hope is a tall, dark, and much-too-appealing stranger, Shade Ganavan, who says he can help her. But his motivations are far from clear…

Shade Ganavan: arrogance, charm…and that special something that makes you want to kick him.
With the dreaded Dark Watch closing in, what Tess and Shade don’t know about each other might get them killed…unless they can set aside their differences and learn to trust each other before it’s too late.

My Review; This is my first sci-fi/romance read and I loved it. Something different. It took me a while to get into but then I was hooked. I loved both Tess and Shade’s characters, bless them both. Shade was really torn throughout but did the best thing with a happy ending for all… For now.

They have plenty of ups and downs ahead and many fights and escaping to endure but they work as a team with the others on board the endeavour, more like family really. A great read that had my imagination on fire. Brilliantly written. Very impressed and a gorgeous cover too.

Nightchaser is book one in The Endeavour Trilogy and I cannot wait to see while lies ahead for these beautiful characters in book two. A well deserved four stars from me highly recommend.

The Blue Salt Road – Joanne M. Harris ★★★★

Blurb; An earthly nourris sits and sings
And aye she sings, “Ba lilly wean,
Little ken I my bairn’s father,
Far less the land that he staps in.
(Child Ballad, no. 113)

So begins a stunning tale of love, loss and revenge, against a powerful backdrop of adventure on the high seas, and drama on the land. The Blue Salt Road balances passion and loss, love and violence and draws on nature and folklore to weave a stunning modern mythology around a nameless, wild young man.

Passion drew him to a new world, and trickery has kept him there – without his memories, separated from his own people. But as he finds his way in this dangerous new way of life, so he learns that his notions of home, and your people, might not be as fixed as he believed.

Beautifully illustrated by Bonnie Helen Hawkins, this is a stunning and original modern fairytale.

My Review; This is another I picked up because of its beautiful cover. This is the first book I have read by this author but luckily I picked up more by this author which I can’t wait to read.

This is a short story at just over 200 pages and can easily be read in one sitting. It has beautiful illustrations throughout making the story even more magical thanks to Bonnie Hawkins. The chapters are short and the story is brilliantly told.

It had me feeling all sorts of emotions throughout. My heart was with the sea and the animals in this story not the humans. Very cruel. But least we got a compromise in the end and a happy ending for all. Something very different for me again but I enjoyed it! I cannot wait to read more by this author.

A well deserved four stars from me. Highly recommend. Short, so perfect for those who don’t have much time.
