School’s Out Forever – James Patterson ★★★★

Blurb; In this eagerly awaited follow-up, brave bird-kid Max and her flock are discovered by an FBI agent and forced to go to “school.” There is no such thing as an ordinary day as Max deciphers how and when she’s supposed to save the world, and she faces her greatest enemy–a clone of herself.

My Review; Book two in the brilliant Maximum Ride series. I am still invested and absolutely loving this series. YA/Fantasy. I find them such easy reads. I love them. I enjoy them. I get so lost into their world and lives. It’s just such a different read for me at the moment.

In this story we see plenty more fights against flying enemies this time, so they’ve upped their game since book one. Plenty of escapes, death dodges and uncomfortable positions. Its tense and fast paced. The flock in book two are determined to find their birth families but are soon sent back to normal school or so they thought… dun dun dun.. Another cliffhanger so I cannot wait to see what happens for the flock in book three. They’re all such a lovely flock/family. I would highly recommend this series and book. A well deserved four stars from me again.

Max is still very much the leader/mother of the flock and she is brilliant when she comes up against a perfect enemy clone of herself but will the flock believe her?

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment – James Patterson ★★★★★

Blurb; Six unforgettable kids — with no families, no homes — are running for their lives. Max Ride and her best friends have the ability to fly. And that’s just the beginning of their amazing powers. But they don’t know where they come from, who’s hunting them, why they are different from all other humans… and if they’re meant to save mankind — or destroy it.

My Review; Book one of the maximum ride series. After reading book 10 I was already familiar with the characters however in this book they are extremely young with the youngest being 6 and the eldest Max being 14. A huge difference from book 10.

It was a great start to this series that explains how they came about, came together as a family/flock and escaped. This story is mostly about them surviving and searching for answers as to where they came from and about their parents. Even in book one you can see Max is the lead character of the flock, the mother. I love her for it. But she faces a lot of fights and challenges ahead of her against the erasers (their enemy).

Absolutely loved it all fell in love with Angels character the youngest member of the flock at 6 years old. I just love the whole flock & how they stick together and always have a plan regardless of no home. No biological family. Sometimes it hard but they have each other.

Another brilliant 5 star read. Highly recommend. Perfect YA, fantasy read. I’m on to book 2 now. Love this series.

Hawk – James Patterson & Gabrielle Charbonnet ★★★★★

Blurb; A story for a new generation of Maximum Ride fans! 17-year-old Hawk is growing up hard and fast in post-apocalyptic New York City . . . until a perilous destiny forces her to take flight.

Where is Maximum Ride?

Ten years ago a girl with wings fought to save the world. But then she disappeared.

Now she’s just a fading legend, remembered only in stories.

Hawk doesn’t know her real name. She doesn’t know who her family was, or where they went. The only thing she remembers is that she was told to wait on a specific street corner, at a specific time, until her parents came back for her.

She stays under the radar to survive…until a destiny that’s perilously close to Maximum Ride’s forces her to take flight. Someone is coming for her.

But it’s not a rescue mission.

It’s an execution. span.

My Review; As many of you will already know I am a huge James Patterson fan. I came upon this book but soon realised it was actually book ten in a series d’oh. Nevertheless I still read it and then ordered the whole series. Win. Win.

It was such a brilliant read! YA, Fantasy. A world I enjoyed far more than my own at the moment. I loved the majority of the characters especially the angel family. The story focuses on a girl known as hawk she has wings and she is an amazing, determined, strong and powerful character. Along the way she comes under attack, has to save her friends and ends up saving their part of the way to finish off.

I loved the whole setting/world. A perfect YA read which I devoured in less than 24 hours. Highly recommend. I fell inlove with it. I’ve gone back to the start of the series and currently reading book one. A well deserved five stars. I can see this series going into my top reads of the year. Brilliant. How didn’t I know about the series sooner?
