*BLOG TOUR* A Song Of Isolation – Michael. J. Malone ★★★★

Blurb; Film star Amelie Hart is the darling of the silver screen, appearing on the front pages of every newspaper. But at the peak of her fame she throws it all away for a regular guy with an ordinary job. The gossip columns are aghast: what happened to the woman who turned heads wherever she went?
Any hope the furore will die down are crushed when Amelie’s boyfriend Dave is arrested on charges of child sexual abuse. Dave strongly asserts his innocence, and when Amelie refuses to denounce him, the press witch hunt quickly turns into physical violence, and she has to flee the country.
While Dave is locked up with the most depraved men in the country and Amelie is hiding on the continent, Damaris, the victim at the centre of the story, is isolated – a child trying to make sense of an adult world.

My Review; Oh wow. Another belter of a book from Michael. This is a powerful, hard hitting read full of emotion. It had me believing one minute and the next, doubting myself. It’s not an easy read in parts but it’s a brilliant read. I was hooked. It was a real page turner from the first page.

I really felt for both Amelie and Dave. More so Amelie as it kind of hits her harder and in more ways than one when it wasn’t even of any her fault. I do love any books with a prison setting too so this was right up my street. Brilliantly written. Would highly recommend to you all. It also has an eye catching cover, simple but it’s a huge part to this story. Michael hasn’t let me down yet. Enjoyed it.

*BLOG TOUR* In The Absence of Miracles – Michael J Malone ★★★★★

Blurb; A young man discovers a family secret that turns his world upside down in this dark, emotive, shocking psychological thriller by number-one bestselling author Michael J. Malone

John Docherty’s mother has just been taken into a nursing home following a massive stroke and she’s unlikely to be able to live independently again.

With no other option than to sell the family home, John sets about packing up everything in the house. In sifting through the detritus of his family’s past he’s forced to revisit, and revise his childhood.
For in a box, in the attic, he finds undeniable truth that he had a brother who disappeared when he himself was only a toddler. A brother no one ever mentioned. A brother he knew absolutely nothing about. A discovery that sets John on a journey from which he may never recover.

For sometimes in that space where memory should reside there is nothing but silence, smoke and ash. And in the absence of truth, in the absence of a miracle, we turn to prayer. And to violence.

My Review; How do I even begin to describe this story? It has a gorgeous, eye catching cover to begin with. It is beautifully and brilliantly written. I found it quite an emotional read in parts alongside some chilling and thrilling bits. I was beside John the whole way through this…

John with his brothers help turns into detective mode in search of answers after what he has found in a box, in his mother loft… Prepare for a bumpy ride, it’s not going to be easy. Is anyone going to speak out about what really happened or are they all still afraid of the consequences? Will dark, shocking secrets finally be revealed years later?

I don’t have a bad thing to say about this at all. Perfectly written and handled. Moving, beautiful and Powerful. Not afraid to tackle a sensitive subject!

A well deserved four stars from me. Highly recommend! I must say the way Michael has written this story is outstanding, he handled it well and I didn’t want to put it down. High praise. Ashamed to say this is the first book I’ve read by Michael but don’t worry I already have all his others waiting and have high expectations after reading this one. Very impressed!
