*BLOG TOUR* Hitman Sam – Morgen Bailey ★★★★

Blurb; Having been made redundant as a photocopier software designer, Sam Simpson is lured by a cryptic advert. As he learns it is for a trainee hitman, will he be tough enough to see the job through? Even James Bond had to start somewhere and Sam, as his alias Josh Bradley, looks forward to enjoying James’ lifestyle, although soon embroiled in a love triangle, Sam hadn’t expected things to get so complicated so quickly.

My Review; I have read a few short stories by Morgen in the past so this was a must read for me. It’s short (171 pages). So perfect for those readers with busy lives, but it is still a brilliant story and well written set in a cute little town.

I surprisingly liked Sams character he was willing to give it a go and even found himself part of a love triangle at one point! Oops… The dog! Loved the dog. This story has a little bit of everything in it.

Can easily be devoured in one sitting. The ending was a shocking, jaw dropping, unexpected outcome. I found the story did end suddenly, a bit rushed but it all made sense and maybe it was cause I wanted more. I enjoyed it. A well deserved four stars from me. Highly recommend.

*BLOG TOUR* After Jessica – Morgen Bailey ★★★★

Blurb; Jessica is an ordinary girl who comes across extraordinary circumstances and pays for them with her life. As well as identifying her body, her brother Simon then has to wind up her affairs but gets more than he bargains for. Who is Alexis, and why are Veronica and Daniel searching for her? Why is there a roll of cash in Jessica’s house, and what’s the connection between his sister and Alexis?

My Review; After Jessica is a fairly short, easy to read story which could easily be devoured in a day or hours. It kept me intrigued throughout. Jessica may have passed away in a quick accident, but that’s not the end to this story… It’s the beginning.

I did get the whole outcome quite early in the book but read on to see if my assumption was correct… It was.

Poor Simon (Jessicas brother) is left with the aftermath of her death and uncovers a big secret of Jessicas. Daniel isn’t such a pleasant character but after what happened to him I wouldn’t be too pleased either. A lot of people are shocked by Jessicas death but for more than one reason… The ending is a shocker and jaw dropper… A cliffhanger as to what lies ahead for Simon and Jessicas mother.

The chapters are short and the story is well written. I awarded four stars.

*BLOG TOUR* The Serial Dater’s Shopping List – Morgen Bailey ★★★★

Blurb; 31 dates in 31 days – what could possibly go wrong?

Isobel MacFarlane is a recently-turned-40 journalist who usually writes a technology column for a newspaper based in Northampton, England, but her somewhat-intimidating boss, William, has set her the task of meeting 31 men, via a local internet dating site, all within a month.

Having an active, though fruitless, social life with her friend and ‘Health & Beauty’ colleague Donna, she knows what she wants in a man, so creates a shopping list of dos and don’ts, and starts ticking them off as she meets Mr Could Be Right Except For, Mr Not Bad, Mr Oh My Goodness and Mr Oh So Very Wrong.

Follow the ups (there are a few) and downs (there are many) of the dating process and intertwined with her experiences, get to know her colleague and family, including her niece Lola who, apart from being an amazing storyteller, can eat ambidextrously whilst wearing a Princess glove puppet on her right hand, and Baby, William’s non-too-healthy African Grey parrot.

My Review; This book is laugh out loud funny in parts. I enjoyed reading this one. So basically Isobel (Izzy) writes a column in a newspaper and has been challenged to set a profile up online and attend a date each night with someone different and write about it. What could go wrong eh?

Each and every date is very different! Just as you think the dates could not get any worse or funnier… THEY DO. Poor Izzy… At least she enjoys herself and gets free drinks. This story is brilliantly written and contains a wide range of men throughout I think Izzy covered them all.

Online profiles and dating has imerged into this popular, must do thing these days and everyone seems to be doing it… We all have our type, do’s and don’ts.. (Don’t lie, we all do). Which is why I loved Izzys shopping list approach to the perfect man! Brilliant.

I also loved Izzys and Donnas relationship, best friends and work colleagues. These two especially feel like your own crazy friends you’ve always known. This was a real page turner for me which just got better and better. An easy, light hearted, hilarious read. I loved it. I awarded a well deserved four stars and would highly recommend.
