Blurb; In an unnamed Third World country, in the not-so-distant future, three “dumpsite boys” make a living picking through the mountains of garbage on the outskirts of a large city.
One unlucky-lucky day, Raphael finds something very special and very mysterious. So mysterious that he decides to keep it, even when the city police offer a handsome reward for its return. That decision brings with it terrifying consequences, and soon the dumpsite boys must use all of their cunning and courage to stay ahead of their pursuers. It’s up to Raphael, Gardo, and Rat—boys who have no education, no parents, no homes, and no money—to solve the mystery and right a terrible wrong.
My Review; This is a must read. Brilliant, outstanding, powerful, uplifting and amazing. Worth all the stars. I cannot recommend this book to you all enough. It’s a short read at 211 pages long but well worth it! One that will stick in your heart for a long time with similar ties to slumdog millionairre you’re in for a treat.
I fell in love with the three boys Raphael, Gardo and Rat. After discovering an item among the rubbish piles they hunt through daily, they never realised how much it would change their lives and others. The police are determined to find the item too. Then we embark on the journey with the boys…
I must give it to them what a team they were together. Strong, determined and clever. Always one step ahead of the police… Well most of the time. They’ve faced the unimaginable and were rewarded greatly. A beautiful ending and outcome. A powerful story. It got me thinking that although this is a fictional story parts are based on what still happens in the world today with kids routing through rubbish piles, being poor and the wealthy greedy. Highly recommend it. I cant stop thinking about it, so glad it popped up on my Amazon recommendations now.
