Orenda Roadshow

Manchester Orenda Roadshow 05.03.2019 round up.

WOW! What a brilliant night. This was my first book event (ever) and it was the best. Every single author and Karen is so welcoming, friendly and funny. I was nervous and excited beyond belief but I think I managed to keep it pretty cool until Karen asked “Are you okay?” Haha. Fab thanks.

Lovely Orenda publisher Karen

So I arrived a little early had a browse of my sweet shop aka Waterstones (3 floors) was terrible and bought 3 non orenda books before the event even started! Oh dear. Then I popped for a coffee before the event… Low and behold who do I see approaching? Kjell Ola Dahl, Thomas Enger and Antti Tuomainen. Ofcourse I tried to play it cool… Waved and said hi!

Seen as we wasnt allowed into the event room aka storage room I soon found myself having coffee surrounded by the orenda lot! Dream come true right? Ofcourse!

The Event you ask? Oh we was in for a treat! However, I need to mention poor David. F. Ross came down with food poisoning so was unable to attend (don’t worry I still bought your book, infact I GOT THEM ALL). We started off with an introduction to each author, then was treated to a reading from each of their books with some laughs along the way. Some books I could have sat and listened to all night. A truely wonderful event, enjoyed by all.

I finally got to meet some fellow book bloggers who were absolutely lovely so a shout out to Joanne Robertson (Mychestnutreadingtree) and Jill from (Jillsbookcafe). Both lovely ladies.

I enjoyed myself and came away on such a high. So thank you to all the lovely authors of Orenda and the brilliant Karen for coming to Manchester. I am one happy book worm and book blogger managing to get ALL my books signed! Thank you. Until we meet again. Sorry for so much of my face! … Author stalking.

*BLOG TOUR* The Old You – Louise Voss ★★★★

Blurb; Nail-bitingly modern domestic noir. A tense, Hitchcockian psychological thriller. Louise Voss returns with her darkest, most chilling, novel yet…

Lynn Naismith gave up the job she loved when she married Ed, the love of her life, but it was worth it for the happy years they enjoyed together. Now, ten years on, Ed has been diagnosed with early-onset dementia, and things start to happen; things more sinister than missing keys and lost words. As some memories are forgotten, others, long buried, begin to surface… and Lynn’s perfect world begins to crumble.
But is it Ed s mind playing tricks, or hers…?

My Review; Wow. What a one of a kind thriller. I did not expect that outcome, literally had me guessing through out! A real page turner that I devoured and would highly recommend to you all. I actually started to feel for Lynns character but something wasn’t quite right… same with Ed’s character.

This story flicks back and forth between present time 2017 and the past back in 2007, but every switch is set out easily so the reader doesn’t become confused! Who do you think is loosing their mind? Will all be revealed? The Old You contains short chapters, fast paced and is easy to read. A well deserved four stars from me. This is the first book I have read by Louise and look forward to reading more by her in the future.
